Hat trick for Titchener-Barrett
[by dm - 22 Dec 2003]

Alex Titchener-Barrett won his third consecutive Under 24 Singles at Queen's Club defeating Alex Coldicott who had earlier won the Under 21 Title.

Alex Titchener-Barrett won his third Under 24 Singles title when he defeated Alex Coldicott 15/2,15/3,15/0. Titchener-Barrett who was following his usual habit of very hard hitting and if that did not work striking it even harder, did not give Coldicott much chance to get into the game.He served well, to a length and was too strong in the rallies. Coldicott himself had won the Under 21 title earlier in the day, beating George Tysoe in the final 15/10,15/13,15/8. Tysoe was perhps not aggresive enough and Coldicott, who is the reigning US Amateur Champion, had too much experience for last season's Foster Cup Winner.
