Robinson and Barker aim for double

Alister Robinson and Guy Barker are seeded to
add the Lacoste Open Doubles to the Amateur
Doubles which they won last month
The Lacoste Open Doubles
promises to be a replay of last months Amateur
Doubles with Barker and Robinson seeded to meet
Tim Cockroft and Guy Smith-Bingham who they beat
in the seventh game of that contest. Up to the
last point the result was in doubt and if these
two pairs meet again there is no reason to think
that it will not be as close, although there can
be no doubt that Robinson was below his best
during that final.
A pairing that will take
many gallery wathchers back is the third seeding
of World Champion James Male and former World
Champion John Prenn. These two, who last won this
Championship in 1995, could well spring a surprise
in their projected semi final with second seeds
Cockroft and Smith-Bingham. The projected semi
final opponents for the No 1 seeds are Radley
Professional Mark Hubbard and Alex Smith-Bingham. |
