Invitation Singles

Ali Robinson and Guy Smith-Bingham look likely
to be the winners of their groups in this seasons
Invitation Singles, sponsored by KBC Peel Hunt. If
they do meet in the final it may be a pointer to
the World Championship in January.
The 2004 KBC Peel Hunt
Invitation Singles should provide plenty of
interesting matches .Ali Robinson looks to have
the tougher task in his round robin matches with
Tim Cockroft , Willie Boone and Rupert
Owen-Browne. Both Boone and Owen-Browne in
particular, are still capable of beating any one
when at their best , and Cockroft runner up to Guy
Smith-Bingham in last years Amateur Singles,
having beaten Harry Foster in the semi finals,
also dangerous. The two qualifiers should be
Robinson and Owen-Browne, if he can remain fit
enough and interested for his matches.
Guy Smith-Bingham ,on
the other hand would seem to have a rather simpler
task to qualify for the semi final stage with
David Makey, Mark Hubbard and Alex Titchener-Barrett
looking less likely to upset him. In this group
the two amateurs should go through. |
