Morys Aberdare

A
service of thanksgiving for the life and work of Lord Aberdare
will be held at St Margaret’s Church, Westminster Abbey, at
noon on Wednesday
4 May 2005.To
apply for tickets, please write, enclosing a stamped addressed

will be sent out by 26 April. All are welcome to attend.
Lord Aberdare was
President of the T&RA from 1972 until his retirement in March 2004
and in that time he oversaw a period of great growth .He made an
exceptional contribution to to our games over an almost 60 year
period. He won both the Tennis Amateur Singles and Doubles titles on
4 occasions and continued playing well into his seventies. At
Rackets he played 3 seasons in the Winchester pair and almost won
the Amateur Doubles in partnership with his father. Recently he was
probably most recognised for his seminal history of both sports "The
Willis Faber Book of Tennis and Rackets" first published in 1980 and
then updated, re-worked and republished in 2001.
