Eton v Tonbridge

......................................................................................................................................

[by Peter Brake - 22 Jan 2005]

1st Pair : O.Howick & A.Judd v E.Molson & F.Burgess 15/4 , 15/6 , 18/15 , 15/8

The first two games were convincingly won by the Tonbridge pair 15/4 15/6 , due to consistently good serving , many serves rolling out of the back wall nick . When the Eton pair did get the into a rally they were either forced into errors , or beaten by Howick’s hard hitting winners . The third game was much closer , both pairs trading service runs , along with a few excellent rallies . Burgess serving first had a run from 4-4 to 8 only to be taken out by his partner hitting a back wall kill into the board . Molson then took the game to 12-4 before making an unforced error to allow Tonbridge back into the game . Eventually the game went to set 5 , Eton struggled their way to a 2-0 lead , but once Howick got into serve he powered his way through the next 5 points to win the game 18/15 . Eton moved into an 8-2 lead in the fourth , but thoughts of a come back were shorted lived when both Tonbridge players upped their game to close out the game 15/8 , and with it a convincing 4-0 home win .

2nd Pair : C.Hammond & T.Blain v T.Redmayne &W.Hopton 10/15 , 15/12 , 0/15 , 9/15

A very good 3 games to 1 victory away from home for the Eton 2nd pair . Redmayne continued his good run of form of reaching the final of the Renny Cup at Queens with a good consistant performance , aided by Hopton who moved up an age group due to injury .

Colts : A.Maltz & C.Trigg v C.Stefanowicz & W.Murray 11/15 , 10/15 , 6/15

Junior-Colts : O.Durell & A.Bird v F.Briance & T.Higson 15/12 , 17/15 , 15/17 , 9/15 , 15/5
