Oxford beat Cambridge by three matches to
nil in the Pol Roger sponsored 2006 Varsity match at Queen's Club. Nick Wright Stuart Angus Peter Dunbar Aidan Crawley Peter Dunbar [Harrow & Balliol] playing one for Oxford beat his opposite number Stuart Angus [Rugby & Clare Hall] 15/0,15/1,15/3. Oxford No2 Aidan Crawley [Harrow & Brasenose] beat Nick Wright [Harrow & Jesus] 16/13,15/10,15/9. In the doubles Dunbar and Crawley combined to defeat Angus and Wright 15/5,15/0,15/10,15/11. Both Crawley and Angus are scions of well known rackets playing families; Angus is the son of former World Champion Howard who played for Cambridge in 1965 and 1966. The first Crawley to play in the Varsity match was H.E.Crawley who played for Cambridge in 1885,86 and 87. Since then A.S.Crawley played in 1898 and C.S. Crawley played for Oxford in 1924 and 1925 beating L.G.Crawley in 1925. Families feature often in the annals of the Varsity Rackets. In 1977 the Hollington brothers represented Oxford and Paul and Mark Nicholls turned out for Cambridge.
