Harrovian upset for Eton Brothers

In the 1/4 finals 6th seeded Harrow 2 [John Prenn & Alaister Orchard] produced the surprise of the Noel Bruce so far when they beat Alex and Guy Smith-Bingham[Eton1],the 3rd seeds , by three games to two, 8/15,13/18,15/2,15/12,15/8.
The Etonians controlled the 1st game going into a 10/6 lead and only dropping 2 more points. Harrow should have won the 2nd game as they led 9/6,and then 11/7 and 13/9 before Alex had a service run of eight points in a row to reach 13 all and then went to game point before being put out , Guy then served out for game.
At this point it seemed as if the No 3 seeds would win in straight games but John and Alaister having put Eton out for the loss of only won point took an 11/1 lead and allowed the brothers only one more point before taking the game. The fourth game produced the best rackets of the match the 6th seeds particularly, serving and returning serve very well, going from 7/8 behind to 12/8, and then 14/10 before Eton saved game point got to 12/14 and having been put out saved another game point before Prenn served an ace to finish the game.
In the final game Harrow were always in the ascendant and with the Smith-Binghams not quite at their best and Orchard and Prenn continuing their excellent form the Harrovians ran out comfortable winners.
In the semi finals they will face World Champion Harry Foster and Charlie Danby[Harrow 1] the second seeds who were not at their most convincing in beating Malvern 1[Mark Hubbard and Ben Bomford] 16/14,18/14,10/15,15/6. The other semi final is between the holders and top seeds Marlborough 1[Ali Robinson & Guy Barker] and Eton 2[Willie Boone & Neal Bailey]
