The Tennis and Rackets Association Centenary golf day, held at Walton Heath Golf Club in Surrey, scene of a memorable Ryder Cup Match in 1981, was organised with their usual extraordinary efficiency by Team Cockroft, ostensibly led by Tim, but in fact as we all know marshalled by the imperturbable Charlotte. The club more than played it's part in the success of the day by laying on a splendid lunch for 140 ravenous golfers.

The only factor that Tim and Charlotte were unable to control was, unfortunately, the weather.

Neither the unrelenting rain nor the rather early start did any thing to dampen the spirits of the players however  (see below)

James Coyne                            John Prenn                          Mark Agate                                Dudley MacDonald

With play taking place on both courses there were two winning teams and one overall winner under the Cockroft modified Stapleford scoring system, On the new course the team of Alexis Prenn, David Dick, John Denham and Geoffrey Hamilton-Fairley, who have played together in this competition for four years, finally triumphed. On the Old course The winners and overl winers were The Father and son Huttons, Ned Batchelor and Alex Titchener-Barett. The longest drive was struck by Rupert Owen-Browne narrowly outhitting Jamie Heward with a mere 342 yards. Jamie had the consolation of winning the prize for being closest to the pin. The sun, inevitably, came out during lunch but that meant the more energetic were able to play more holes in the late afternoon.
